To "go the extra mile" means to make special efforts or sacrifices to achieve something, thus to do more than one is required to do.

Matthew 5:41 teaches one to love one's enemies and "whoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two."

Use Example - When trying to land a job, make sure your resume shows you are willing to go the extra mile.
